Privacy notice
Location data is sensitive. Here is exactly what happens to it.
What we collect
Nothing is sent to a LocationShare server. Coordinates you create or scan are held in your browser and in the share links you choose to distribute. There is no account, no advertising identifier and no behavioural tracking.
Location permission
Your browser asks for location permission only at the moment you tap “Use my current location”. We read a single fix and stop. We never watch your position in the background.
Camera permission
The scanner runs entirely in your browser. Camera frames are analysed on your device and are never recorded, uploaded or transmitted.
Third-party services
Map previews and optional address lookups are served by OpenStreetMap, which receives the coordinates needed to draw the map. When you choose a navigation provider, you leave LocationShare and that provider's own privacy policy applies.
Your control
You can rename or delete any saved code, turn scan history off entirely, and clear all stored data from Settings. Temporary codes stop being offered once their expiry passes. Deleting your browser data removes everything LocationShare has stored.
A note on share links
A universal link contains the coordinates inside the URL. Anyone who receives the link or photographs the QR code can see that location, so share it only with people you intend to.
